Where are they now

Just a few stories about where some of our former students are now. While we will be changing names from Dance... by Gloria to Interpretations Dance Academy in June, these former students will always be part of the family. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them continued success in whatever they decide to pursue.

Maria Pupillo is a student at Ohio Northern University pursuing a career in pharmacy. She anticipates earning her doctorate in May 2014, and plans on starting her career as a pharmacist in the Greater Cleveland area.

She owes part of her success to her years at Dance…by Gloria (DBG), which taught her how to balance her academic schedule with several extracurricular activities. While in college, Maria auditioned and made the Northern Stars Dance Team. Her training at DBG quickly made her a valued member of the team. She was voted as Best New Addition, Dancer of the Year, and Outstanding Member of the Year over the course of her dance team career. After her time on the dance team ended, Maria continued to find ways to dance. She was introduced to Zumba, and after a year and half of being a “front-row Diva”, Maria became a certified Zumba instructor herself. She now teaches all shapes, ages, and coordination at a nearby studio. When she is not instructing, she can be found stretching and conditioning at the gym nearly every day, using several techniques her DBG teachers taught her.

Although her years at DBG are long gone, DBG impacts her in everything she does – school, work, activities, friendships, and more. Because of DBG, Maria is the person she is; a student pharmacist, a Zumba instructor, and a healthy adult. Maria’s time spent at Dance…by Gloria will forever be a part of her, and she will always hold the lessons she learned there near and dear to her heart.

My name is Jaclyn Wloszek. I danced at Dance By Gloria from ages 4 to 16. Through my years of dance training I was able to partake in dance team, musicals, flag line and show choir whilst completing high school. After graduating Brecksville Broadview Heights High School in 2010, I started college at the University of Akron. My major is Chemistry Education with a minor in dance. My passion for dance and the arts continued into college. My minor in dance allowed me to continue taking classes, such as modern, jazz and ballet. It has also allowed me to take lecture courses in dance such as “dance as an art form” and choreography. I have also had the privilege to take special master classes and perform in student-choreographed pieces. As of the recent, I can be seen dancing for the University of Akron dance team. We dance at all home football and basketball games. We also plan on traveling to Daytona in the spring for the NDA Nationals. I’m excited to continue my dance career. I plan to graduate in Spring 2015. I hope to teach in a local high school and coach their high school’s dance team.
